A RESOLUTION

Recognizing September 18, 2026, as "POW/MIA Recognition Day" in

Pennsylvania.

WHEREAS, In accordance with the act of June 11, 1992 (P.L.

301, No.50), each year this Commonwealth observes "Pennsylvania

POW/MIA Recognition Day" the third Friday in September; and

WHEREAS, Many Americans across the United States pause to

remember the sacrifices of individuals who were prisoners of war

(POW) and those who are missing in action (MIA); and

WHEREAS, More than 80,000 American service personnel are

missing from previous conflicts; and

WHEREAS, The loved ones of those soldiers, sailors, airmen

and marines who did not return home are forced to live with

unthinkable pain; and

WHEREAS, Federal law requires the POW/MIA flag to be

displayed whenever the American flag is displayed on prominent

Federal buildings and national war memorials to honor those
