MaineDOT to Work on Smelt Brook Bridge in Perry
Drivers should plan for delays due to one-way alternating traffic on temporary bridge.
PERRY– August 21, 2026 –The Maine Department of Transportation has closed Smelt Brook Bridge over Smelt Brook in Perry for a bridge replacement project.
Traffic has been placed on a temporary bridge detour with one-way alternating traffic which is controlled by temporary timed traffic lights.
The project location is 0.10 of a mile west of Thompson Store Road.
The detour will be in place until August 2027.
Message boards are in place warning drivers of the detour.
Work is expected to be completed by fall 2027.
The contractor for this project is Northeast Construction of Bangor, Maine.
This project is a Federal Highway Administration INFRA Grant Recipient.
The contract amount is $6,956,000.
