JACKSON COUNTY –Special agents assigned to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation’s Criminal Investigation Division have charged a Gainesboro man in connection to an ongoing child exploitation case.

In May, at the request of 15^th Judicial District Attorney General Jason Lawson, TBI special agents began investigating allegations of aggravated sexual battery involving Johnny Baldwin (DOB 7/22/1982).

On June 5^th, Baldwin was arrested and charged with one count of Aggravated Sexual Battery. Deputies with the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office booked him into the Jackson County Jail.

On August 17^th, a Jackson County Grand Jury indicted Baldwin, charging him with one additional count of Aggravated Sexual Battery, three counts of Soliciting Sexual Exploitation of a Minor, one count of Rape of a Child, three counts of Statutory Rape by an Authority Figure, and one count of Continuous Sexual Abuse of a Child. Baldwin remains in jail on a $2 million bond.

The charges and allegations referenced in this release are merely accusations of criminal conduct and not evidence. The defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt and convicted through due process of law.
