Gainesboro Man Charged with Rape of a Child

JACKSON COUNTY –Special agents assigned to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation’s Criminal Investigation Division have charged a Gainesboro man in connection to an ongoing child exploitation case.

In May, at the request of 15th Judicial District Attorney General Jason Lawson, TBI special agents began investigating allegations of aggravated sexual battery involving Johnny Baldwin (DOB 7/22/1982).

On June 5th, Baldwin was arrested and charged with one count of Aggravated Sexual Battery. Deputies with the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office booked him into the Jackson County Jail.

On August 17th, a Jackson County Grand Jury indicted Baldwin, charging him with one additional count of Aggravated Sexual Battery, three counts of Soliciting Sexual Exploitation of a Minor, one count of Rape of a Child, three counts of Statutory Rape by an Authority Figure, and one count of Continuous Sexual Abuse of a Child. Baldwin remains in jail on a $2 million bond.
