Bath Township Flood Resilience Open House Scheduled For June 17
BATH, NC – In November 2025, Beaufort County and the Town of Bath asked for public input on issues, needs, and opportunities related to flooding and other coastal hazards in the community via a public survey. In December 2025, a resilience table was included at the Bath Christmas Parade to gather input on community priorities. The county and town are now inviting the public to attend an open house to gather input on potential projects that will increase the resiliency to flooding impacts within the community. This event will focus on both the Town of Bath and the surrounding county areas referred to collectively as the “Bath Township”.
These meetings are part of the NC Resilient Coastal Communities Program (RCCP). The program facilitates a community-driven process for setting coastal resilience goals, assessing existing and needed local capacity, and identifying and prioritizing projects to enhance community resilience to coastal hazards. This initiative, funded through the N.C. General Assembly and the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation, provides funding to local governments to help overcome barriers in coastal resilience and adaptation planning, boost local government capacity, and support a proactive, sustainable, and equitable approach to coastal resilience planning and project implementation.
Draft flood resilience projects will be provided for public review, including potential investments in policy and regulatory actions, public education, infrastructure improvements, and nature-based projects. The meeting purpose is to obtain community input on potential projects that will increase the resiliency to flooding impacts within the community. Public input will be used to inform priority projects and actions.
